Food Waste

Did you know that 8% of greenhouse gases heating the planet are caused by food waste. [1]

Bare Pantry wants to help fight the fight against food waste in Australia too. If any of our products go past their ‘best before’ date and are perfectly safe to eat after this date, we will donate them to OzHarvest.

As a consumer, we also suggest you follow OzHarvest's easy tips to avoid food waste in your own home:

  1. Before you start shopping, check your fridge, freezer and pantry to see what ingredients you have and which ones need to be used up.
  2. Know the difference between 'best before' and use-by'
  3. Plan your meals for the week

Glass Jars and Bottles

In the event that glass jars and bottles are cracked or chipped and can no longer be safely used for food storage they are recycled.

Did you know that glass bottles and jars are 100% recyclable and can be recycled endlessly without any loss in purity or quality. [2]

Washing Returned Glass Jars and Bottles

Bare Pantry uses local companies NOOD Australia and Salute for its cleaning products. NOOD Australia supplies a natural, sustainable and environmentally friendly range made using Indigenous botanicals.

Jars and bottles are washed in a commerical dishwasher with earth friendly dishwashing liquid and rinsed at high temperatures.

Carbon Offsets

Bare Pantry aims to be 100% carbon neutral. We buy carbon offsets to counter any emissions from our washing facilities as well as operating our warehouse.

Bare Pantry purchases carbon offsets from Carbon Neutral. The Carbon Neutral group helps organisations across Australia to minimise their environmental impact.
